Race Car

Inspired by the aero-engined racers that were so common in the 20's, this open-wheeled racer

is based on an Alfa Monza chassis and is powered by a modified 7-liter Rolls-Royce engine.

The goal is "three miles per minute" and Black Bart looks like the car that can do it.

A derelict Monza and a spare RR engine started this project.

The wonderful cast metal over-sized magneto sitting on the cowl was the inspiration.

A few modifications to camoflage the Alfa Romeo grill were easy to do.

Here is the left side of the Roller engine after some straight exhaust stacks have been

added along with a copper oil cooler and huge magneto.

A custom manifold with three Schebler carburetors showed promise but were later discard

in favor of the 'through the hood' Meminis.
